Islamabad – The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has launched a new online portal to streamline VPN registration, aimed at bolstering secure internet access for Pakistan’s IT and ecommerce sectors. The move, announced during a recent consultation session hosted by PTA, involved key representatives from the Ministry of IT & Telecommunication (MoIT&T), Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), and the Pakistan IT Association (P@SHA).
According to a PTA press release, the new platform enables legitimate users, including IT companies and freelancers, to register their Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) with ease. This user-friendly system is part of PTA’s broader initiative to support seamless connectivity for Pakistan’s growing digital economy, ensuring that stakeholders in tech and ecommerce can operate without interruption.
The session also addressed the significance of VPNs in securing data and maintaining connectivity across global networks. PTA emphasized that while VPNs are vital for secure digital operations, they also pose a risk when used for illegal activities. To counter this, PTA encouraged all companies and freelancers to register their VPNs, helping to maintain a secure and compliant digital environment in Pakistan.
The PTA’s updated VPN registration framework is expected to improve efficiency and foster a secure landscape for digital enterprises in Pakistan, aligning with the country’s vision for a robust and sustainable digital economy.
